There’s not much nearby JD McCliment’s Pub in Putney, Vt., other than Basketville and some farmstands, but it’s worth the trip —especially on a nice day or evening — simply to be able to sit outside on the deck. So make sure you get there over these next few months, before the snow flies.

Hours: Tuesday through Saturday, 4 p.m. to midnight and until 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday. 5 p.m. till 9 p.m. for dinner
Crowd: All ages, locals and out-of-towners.
Atmosphere: Laid-back yet boisterous and fun, a perfect place for a get-together with friends and some lively conversation.
Decor: Pure tavern inside, with a piano and fireplace, exposed brick and wood on walls, wooden floors, tables and chairs and lots of windows. A second floor has comfy booths with seating made from slabs of local wood. Outside is a large, 65-seat deck with umbrella-covered tables, lots of sun and just enough tree buffer from the road.
Beverage: Long Trail, Guinness, Switchback, Wolaver’s IPA, P.B.R, Blue Moon
Menu item: Spring rolls filled with house-smoked and grilled chicken and chorizo sausage, caramelized onions and Monterey Jack cheese. Also Grass fed Burgers from nearby Sweet Tree Farm, and brought in specials Friday and Saturday
Dress code: Come as you are.
Live entertainment: Celtic music on Wednesdays and occasional live music on weekends.
